1) List any other interests, hobbies or recreational activities you currently pursue in your free time
When I'm not filling out business school applications, I hang out with friends. Sometimes we go to the gym, sometimes we gather the kids and have play dinners and sometimes, after the children and husbands have gone to bed, we go out for a beer. However, a typical night is more likely to revolve around my husband, and the two of us spending time together. We'll go for a walk with the stroller, or read a book together, or just lounge on the couch talking about our day. It's extremely difficult to be a young mother, a wife and a friend, and still work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding industry. However, I've found that assuming each of these identities allows me be a more well-rounded person, and bring more to each role.
2) If you have received any academic, professional, or civic honors or awards, have received any patents or authored any books, or have any other significant accomplishments that you would like the admissions committee to consider, please describe them below.
I was a recipient of the President's Scholarship, which is offered to approximately 110 outstanding entering freshmen who have demonstrated superb leadership skills, are among the top few in their class in academic performance and show promise of continuing such performance in college and beyond. While in college, we participated in many special courses and events as a group.
Through commitment to academics, extracurricular activities, and part-time work, I was able to pay for 100% of college expenses including tuition, fees, room & board, books & supplies and personal expenses through scholarships and part-time work. When I graduated from [Undergrad University], I did so without the burden of school loans and also achieved Highest Honors, an award bestowed upon graduating college seniors with a GPA of 3.60 or greater, which is the non-competitive equivalent of magna cum laude.
3) Explain the primary factors that influenced your decision to apply to the Florida MBA Programs.
As described in the essay, I feel strongly that an MBA is the best way for me to augment my skills in marketing and management. Without an MBA, it will be extremely difficult to achieve my long-term career goal of becoming a Senior VP of Marketing. The reason I've applied to the University of Florida instead of other schools is two-fold: national recognition and location. The Warrington College of Business has been recognized by several authoritative sources, including US News & World Report and Business Week. Also, the college is ideally situated for my preferred job market -- South Florida. The University of Florida is the only school in the state that combines both opportunities in the right location and the prestige for which I am searching.
